Info

Jazz Vocabulary is a book intended for musicians of all ages who desire to learn and understand jazz soloing.

The book offers six different solos (both on Bb and Eb instruments) which contain my personal approach of note choice, melodic playing, articulations, use of extensions/tensions and rhythmic development.

These six solo etudes based on famous “jazz standards” feature the use of arpeggios, chromatic approach, modes and melodic development, which will help you understand how to create a solo while keeping the harmonic context of the tune.

The main goal of this book is to provide the student with moderate advanced solos to break down, harmonically analyze, internalize phrasing and understand the use of voice leading, chromaticism and melodic arpeggio/ modal based ideas while soloing.

These six melodic solos are a showcase to what I, as a saxophone player, would chose to play over these songs/changes on a normal jazz setting.

Jazz Vocabulary is the first book of a series of 4 pedagogy books. It has been my privilege writing this book for you and I hope it serves you

well.
